1st Half
The Eels start brightly and get straight on the attack, moving the ball up the field nicely until they run out of tackles close to the Eagles line. Elmbridge start their set but some quick defensive play by Bobby Taylor getting round the ruck to cause a knock on, hands the ball back to the Eels in a dangerous position, three plays on and the Eels are over the line, moving from the left of the post across to Bobby Reynolds on the right to for the score, giving the Eels an early 0-4-lead.
It doesn't take long for the Eels to get the ball back, George Reekie kicks to touch and the Eels start off this set just inside the Eagles half, two plays on and the Eels are 10 yards out, the third play goes into the hands of Bobby Taylor who breaks for the line, a stretched out arm gets the ball done for the Eels 2nd try of the day, George Reekie slots over the conversion, Eels lead 10-0 after just 12 minutes.
An extended first half sees the sees the Eagles get one back in the 25 minute, with their trademark, scoot from a 2 yards out by the dangerman, conversion is kicked and the halftime whistle goes, 6-10 to the Eels.
2nd Half
Eels make 11 changes at halftime, and the game gets underway after a rule change to restarts after scores. Eels kick off and the Eagles score early, slipping a couple of tackles and and in over the line for a try, conversion is good and the Eagles take the lead in this one 12-6.
The Eels have two or three good chances to score in the 2nd half, but a combination of not moving the ball along the line and some good Eagles defence keep the Eels out. The Eels think they have nicked this one right at the end but this try is called short of the line.
