The Eels U12’s kicked off their London Junior League season with a home fixture against Bromley Bengals. Today’s fixture being the first time for many, on a full size pitch, playing full League rules!

1st Half

The Eels boys got off to a great start moving the ball nicely down the line, until it found its final destination on wing and into Jack Reynolds hands, Jack out pace the Bengals defensive on the outside to score the opening try of the game putting the Eels 4-0 up, Albert Standley adding to the score with a successful conversion, 6-0 Eels.

Eels quickly added to that early lead with another fine try, moving the ball from the far left of the field across the line into Ollie Levi’s hands on the right, Ollie breaking two tackles before placing the ball down giving the Eels a well deserved 10-0 lead.

The third try of the day didn’t take that long to arrive either, Eels starting from the middle of the pitch, moving it quickly through three pairs of hands before Ollie Levi striding through the Bromley defence and gliding past five tacklers to score his second try of the day and putting the Eels 14-0 up, Charlie Crane slots over the conversion to make it 16-0 to the Eels.

2nd Half

Bromley then started to find their way within the game, but a resolute Eels defence held out for some time until Bromley finally found a way through making the score 16-6 with a successful conversion.

Eels strike back with their fourth try of the day with a quick attacking play moving the ball quickly through two pairs of hands and again onto Ollie Levi to get a hat-trick with a strong run around the Bromley defence, giving the Eels a healthy 20-6 lead, which then moves onto 22-6 after a successfully slotted conversion from James Robinson.

The fifth and finally try of the day is scored by the Eels in the final stages of the game, Emir Gunes with a strong mazy run through the heart of the Bromley defence, getting caught just before the try line, a quick play the ball, catches Bromley on their heals and the ball is given quickly to Morgan Birch to score, putting the Eels up 26-6, Jack Reynolds slots the conversion over just before the final whistle goes, giving the Eels a well deserved 28-6 win on opening day.
