Eels dominate top of table clash!

Eels Vs Panthers 25/06

After recent heavy rain Eels met their top of the table rivals Panthers on a glorious sunny morning – both teams knowing a win would send them clear at the top with one game left to play after this encounter.

Receiving from the kick off Eels carried well and gained good ground, leading to a good cross field kick from Archie on the fifth tackle and Rhys catching the high ball to cross in the corner.

7th Min ; Good tackling ,especially from Joe Edwards holds Panthers in their own half. Constant Eels pressure leads to a loose pass and knock on from Panthers leading to turn over ball for Eels .

10th Min ; Strong carry from Will as Eels make the most of their tackle count and from 10 yards out a delicate chip forward from Archie is collected by Findlay to crash over the line for Eels second try.

12 Min ; Yet again good pressure from Joe Edwards forces a knock on from a Panthers player and from the resulting scrum Josh breaks the line and carries a full 60 yards to out-pace the chasing defence, and score under the posts for Eels third try.

17th Min ; Referee deems that Frankie and Findlay are guilty of a couple of late hits, but from resulting penalties the Eels defence is solid, and holds Panthers out for turn over ball.

19th Min; Despite the attention of three Panthers players hanging around him, a great carry from Nathan gains 20 yards and moves Eels into the opposition's half.

22nd Min ; With possession on their 22, Panthers can only make it to the halfway line before giving over ball to Eels,

25th Min ; Scott is penalised for not releasing quickly enough after the tackle, and from the excellent penalty kick Panthers gain good ground, Some slick passing from the resulting phase leads to Xavier scoring in the corner for Panthers' first try.

30th Min ; A good high kick from Archie leads to a knock-on from the Panthers to hand back possession to Eels 20 yards out. Good handling from Eels scrum leads to Ed scoring,

34th Min ; Eels are penalised for not being 10, and from the first phase Kayda breaks our line to score Panthers second try.

35th Min ; From the kick off and our third phase, a good off-load from Will, and Malacky dives over for an immediate response from Eels.

39th Min ; Some good pressure from Panthers in the Eels 22 ends with their winger seemingly going over in the corner for a try, but with three Eels players showing a never say die attitude, the Panthers player is held up, and its turn over ball for Eels.

42nd Min ; Penalty to Eels as the second player into the tackle is penalised for stripping the ball. Archie misses difficult kick.

44th Min ; A great take by Chris from a high Panthers kick, and he carries Eels forward another 30 yards to get back into the oppositions half.

47th Min ; First receiver Frankie crashes through two desperate Panther tacklers, handing both off and going over from 20 yards out.

50th Min ; More good pressure from Eels on the Panthers in their own half leads to a knock-on, and the referee blows the final whistle.

Eels produced their best display of the season against a very strong opposition. Their tackling was spot on for the entire match, creating a lot of pressure on the Panthers forward play. In attack there was some good hard running and great handling, and Eels made the most of their scoring opportunities. An excellent display in a high pressure game to take Eels clear at the top of the table
