Brentwood Eels were left to reflect on what might have been after falling 40–18 to Bristol All Golds, in a game that was finely poised at 14–14 with just 30 minutes to play.

The Eels created eight clear scoring chances in the second half alone but converted only one, as a combination of handling errors, poor decisions, and missed connections let the hosts off the hook time and again.

Bristol stuck to a direct, no-frills approach—hammering the middle and playing off quick rucks. It wasn’t flashy, but it was effective. When gifted possession through Eels’ mistakes, they made it count.

Despite the result, there were standout moments—particularly Oliver Stange, who claimed his first-ever hat-trick for the club with a mix of well-timed support lines and smart finishes on the edge. But those efforts were undone late on, as Bristol ran in three unanswered tries in the final quarter to blow the scoreline out.

This was a game Brentwood had the tools to win—but with ball control and composure missing at key moments, it slipped away. Still, the performance showed promise, and the squad will be determined to respond with a sharper display next time out.
