Brentwood Eels put in a spirited performance against a much-changed Bedford Tigers side that featured added quality through a few dual-registered players from Championship outfit London Broncos. The Eels matched their opponents for large spells of the game, especially in the first half, showing structure, energy, and high completion (85%).
Our Man of the Match was awarded to Euan Tiernan, whose relentless work rate through the middle with 19 carries, gave us consistent momentum and go-forward throughout the match. A notable performance also from the returning youth product Joe Saunders grabbed a double meat pie on the day too.
While there were moments of real promise in attack, the Eels will rue a lack of composure in good-ball sets, alongside missed tackles and few key discipline lapses that allowed Bedford to take control in the second half, led by their elusive new signing at fullback who was also voted MOTM.
