Eastern Rhinos 4-24 Brentwood Eels

Brentwood started the stronger and took control of the pace of the game, that being said it still wasn't the perfect start with errors giving rhinos a chance to attack early but our ruck control and edge defense watered down any threat Rhinos had to offer on the day. Which is where our two first scores comes from rhinos found themselves pinned in corners on both occasions made forced errors exiting their 20m with Eels to score within the first phase with Harry Pyke kicking off the scoring in what was set to be a memorable day for his 50th Appearance. Later followed up by Callum Whitcombe of some smart left edge attacking play.

Rhinos had their strongest spell 10 minutes before half time, they were given possession by the referee who deemed a right edge line break to involved a forward pass but missed two separate knock on's at the play the ball in the build up to Rhino's only try of the afternoon. It was humbling lesson for the eels to play the whistle and luckily had no real effect on the game. Just before the half time spell no.15 finally got a reaction and his annual sin bin in this fixture. George Harkin's followed him in the bin for returning hand bags.

The second half was mostly dominated by The Eels as our set completion rose. A trademark Tom Scarsbrook aerial bomb were not defused by by Rhinos left edge and a regather of his own kicked of the second half and set the tone for the rest of the match. Brentwood looked to up the intensity at ruck time but the referee punished their physicality with two back to back penalties but rhinos blunt attack was no match for the Eels Ddfence on this occasion and shortly after forcing a Knock on, the following Scrum young half back showed great footwork and speed to finish of a great solo try that really was coast to coast. He later added to his tally from another Scarsbrook bomb but this time it was Cody Chamberlin whose of the ball work rate matched his Top Carries with the ball, who supplied a sublime offload to fool two rhinos defenders and leave Harkins 1 v 1 with the full back which ended in another try under the sticks!
