The Eels U15's travelled down to Richmond in a cross conference fixture against the Warriors. These sides had never faced each other before so it was a step into the unknown. The Eels scored out wide first through Valentini but continued mistakes at the play the ball and handling errors prevented the side from adding to that. The errors played into the Warriors hands and they made use of their possession and got a try of their own. Both sides then traded a series of tries with Horsman stepping through the line and sprinting to score out wide, this was followed by Fox with good support play latching onto a good off-load and getting over as well. At half-time the Warriors were just two points ahead.
The second-half saw much of the same with uncharacteristic handling errors allowing Richmond into the game. In fact with around ten minutes to go we were behind 22-12! Then step forward the 'Bruise Brothers' with Davison and Ramsden putting in some great hits to lift the team and then Tomlinson to score two quick tries which were converted by Horsman. In the final minute of the game the Eels were awarded a penalty and Tomlinson took the ball and ran around the tiring Warriors defence to secure his hat-trick by dotting down in the corner.
It was a strange game due to players missing (both centres were missing and two wingers also absent) meaning we had a prop on one wing plus a hooker and another forward in the centres. However that was no excuse for the number of handling errors during the match. The positive from the game though was the sides willingness to stick together and work hard for that victory.
