After telling parents that this was a summer sport it was nice to actually play with the sun on our backs! Bromley as always were fantastic hosts and put together a friendly 9's Competition including Two sides from Bromley plus Invicta, Elmbridge and ourselves.

Once again we allowed everybody on the pitch and with 17 players it was difficult to juggle, but all the boys got plenty of time. Thankfully on this occasion we had around 8 players missing through holidays or they were attending the RU or FA Cup Finals. If they were present it would have been even more difficult!

Once again the boys started slowly which is something that has to change as we're giving the opposition a headstart. In the 9's format you just can't do that. However the final two matches of the day showed that the boys have the ability to beat these sides, as we did In our home festival when we went through the day unbeaten.

Elliot and Connor were once again a real handful and our four half-backs on the day (Rian, Evan, Tom and Dan) played well with Rian scoring a nice try off a cheeky grubber. Dan also put a great pass out wide to allow our winger to score and Evan impressed showing he's fully recovered from a nasty arm injury. Luca was solid at full-back as usual and scored a number of tries during the day. A special mention to Charlie Chitty on debut who looked lively and was always in the action.

All in all a great day of Rugby League and all good perpetration for next season when we enter the League again.
