London Broncos will be hosting an England Talent Pathway player development day on Wednesday 15th February in conjunction with the RFL at Richmond Athletic Association, Twickenham Road, Richmond TW9 2SF between 1200-1400.
This provides any boys in Year 8 and 9 the opportunity for a coaching session delivered by London Broncos professional rugby coaches. The session will involve skills, games and elements of functional movement.
It will be open to anybody in Year 8 (U13s) and Year 9 (U14s) whether they are currently playing Rugby League at either school/community club or not at all.
At the end of the session there will be a short talk with players and parents to discuss the player pathway for Rugby League in London
The ETP programme represents one of the first rungs on the pathway for players in Rugby League.
Players at community clubs play in the London Junior League at Under 12, 14 and 16. There is also a London Rugby League Origin series for players selected from their community clubs to represent either North or South of the river in a two game series held in September at Under 14 and Under 16. The Origin series is one tool used to inform selections into the London Broncos Academy Programmes.
The Broncos run a full RFL Academy including Scholarship (Y10 and Y11) and Under 18s Academy (Y12 and Y13).
Both squads train and play at Richmond Athletic Association where they have access to the pitches, gym and meeting rooms.
The scholarship programme consists of up to twenty Year 10 and twenty Year 11 players from London and South East. They train once or twice a week between November and August and play between February and August against Super League clubs.
The Under 18 Academy programme is the next rung on the pathway to becoming a full-time professional rugby league player and the squad train two or three times a week between November and September.
They play competitive fixtures in a structured league between February and August. This includes home and away fixtures against all the Super League Academies.
